Feds: Ban ads for Moore flick

Anyone else feel like their living in Stalin's Russia these days?

Feds: Ban ads for Moore flick

What's next, May Day parades?

Maybe I better brush up on my goose stepping.

First I'd like to admit that this post was melodramatic. Stalin was worse than Bush by a long shot and that's an unfair comparison. What I meant to imply was a culture of suppression, not totalitarianism. My post doesn't make me proud in hindsight.

Michael Moore admits that he wants Bush to be defeated and further hopes his movie will persuade swing voters away from Bush. However, as far as I know there are scenes in the movie that do not cast Democrats in favorable light and I don't believe it ever pitches Kerry. NOTE: I have not seen the movie yet, since it has been sold out in my area, and these comments are based upon reviews, which I have read, and comments of Michael Moore's.

I believe that the feds intend to claim that Michael Moore's 911 commercial is in fact a campaign commercial and try to ban it that way. My guess is that any such action will only incur an even stronger desire in the American public to see the movie, since Americans hate censorship (one of the things I love about America).

Soldiers are no different than other Americans and some are for and some are against the war. For an example of a soldier that is against the war check out this site:

Paul RieckhoffAlso, here is an article written by David Hackworth that is the most beautiful praise of the American GI in Iraq that I have read to date. I agree with every word and I hope you show your friend Josh a copy of it.

More than a few good menFinally, my opinion of whether or not the war in Iraq is a good thing or not is formed by weighing the pros and cons as I see them. I put Saddam's removal at the top of my pro list and agree his removal is terrific. Also, my disapproval of the war effort does not diminish my regard for the men and women serving in Iraq. If anything my opinion of them only goes up as my belief that they are in a hell of a fight grows stronger.

It is great to know that Republicans don't all sound like Hannity, Mike Savage, Rush Limbaugh, and Ann Coulter. Thanks for the great post.

Unless I misinterpret your words, you seem to be saying that whatever George Bush does is the will of God and it's your job as a Christian to support him no matter what he does because that is God's will (which also implies you are speaking for God since you know must His will).

How do you know that it isn't God's will for you to stop Bush? How do you know that this isn't a test of your faith in his teachings? When Bush invaded Iraq most churches (including his own) called it an "unjust and immoral" because he attacked without provacation (see A religious anti-war statement).

How can this war be moral when more innocent Iraqis have been killed than innocent Americans from 911, even though Iraq has not been tied to that event?

I am not sure what Lies Christopher catches Michael Moore in. It seems to be a rather personal attack in which he often claims to read Michael Moore's mind (as in, if Michael Moore had his way we wouldn't have attacked Afghanistan).

Michael Moore is one of the few people I know of to criticize the Taliban on network television. This was done in his first season on "the Awful Truth" (episode 6, Air-Drop TVs on Afghanistan). He attacked them with comedy, of course, but he did confront the Afghani ambassador well before 911.

Further, Michael said he would defend his film against slander, as opposed to criticism, which is quite a different thing.

I'll try to see the movie soon (this week if I can get tickets) so I'll know first-hand what it's like. Maybe it is an awful movie, or maybe it is an awful truth, or maybe it is some of both.
